From the Mayor’s Desk,

I think everyone is familiar with our little town’s history! We were the watermelon capital and thriving sanctuary for businesses great and small and how a tornado, two back to back fires, and a loss of the railroad left us humble, but still proud with a desire to bring it all back someday. As a citizen and business owner, I have been blessed and driven to initiate several small businesses to accommodate survival necessary to the keep the “Mayberry” style town atmosphere. With the support of this loving community and city Council, I proudly announce that the upcoming Dollar General Store is now a reality. With the building permit, construction begins today, and I am proud that the majority of the cities elders have showed up on the seemingly worst day of the year. I feel the Dollar General Store will bring an influx of people through our town in a good way that will give more support to the smaller businesses and provide revenue to restore our existing infrastructure.

My seven year old daughter Temperance Russell is here today because she loves Dollar General stores and frequently buys something called LOL‘s. All I know is they are little objects that hurt the bottoms of my feet at night lol.
